5 reasons to take breaks in long meetings

The meetings are only effective if the participants focus on the content and are mentally active. To make this possible, a simple rule must be followed: after an hour period of work there should be five to fifteen minutes of break. This is the only way for participants to 'recharge their batteries' and take the most from the meeting.

The best example of effective meetings is a school: a lesson is followed by a break, a lesson again and then a break. This educational form is used for a reason – it has been proven that a short break can make a miracle, with a significant improvement in efficiency.

Therefore, it is advisable to include breaks in a long meeting that lasts throughout the day. Here are the reasons why:

1. The facts show that the break should be taken at least every hour Attention doesn’t last infinitely. No one can force us to pay attention. Therefore, it is important to follow the principles established by numerous studies – our brains can focus on work for only an hour and then need a break of 5 to 15 minutes.

2. Breaks trigger great ideas When we take a break, our thoughts relax, and often we start thinking about what we just heard. And maybe we get a good idea. Outside the conference room, there is often debate – many people express their opinions when the environment becomes informal. It is precisely the breaks that can bring about the mental breakthrough we are seeking!

3. The body must also regenerate Not only do we need rest to mentally reset ourselves – we need to recharge our body batteries, too. Snacks and beverages prepare us to continue our meeting with more energy. If meeting is taking place in prostor6, with excellent catering you can make a step further – provided by selected culinary houses, the food served here brings gourmet pleasures.

4. Break is an opportunity to exercise We sit in meetings pretty long – that is why the body is calling for exercise. We can react in different ways: sometimes it is enough to walk around a little, other times we will be tempted to do some exercise. There are a number of stretching exercises that help us feel better and ready to continue the meeting.

4. Breaks are the right time to raise motivation Breaks are also an opportunity to thank participants for their dedicated work in the meeting. The team will feel valued and motivated, and you won’t have to worry about the meeting not continuing successfully.
